I have been MIA for way too long.
I don’t even know where to begin!
I have been behind on my custom orders (for friends) for way too long but things just keep coming up.
The Thursday before Christmas AJ went down to the basement to put some things away and he came back up and started slamming shit. He was on the phone with his grandparents while he was freaking out and then he whispered “Go look in the basement”. Panicking immediately I opened the door to see an inch and a half of water covering the floor. Of course it was 5:30 at night and I practically started bailing. I called my landlord right away (mind you I haven’t talked to her since we moved in two years ago.) Surprisingly she answered. I told her what was going on and she said that would get everything taken care of in the morning. We packed up the dog and the mouse and headed to my mom’s for the night. The next morning she came over to look at it and called a plumber. She didn’t even stay to pay him. AJ paid him after he snaked the pipe. The water had drained and he said the pipes were fixed. The landlord said she would call her insurance company to have them come out and take pictures and call around to get estimates to have it cleaned professionally. Thank goodness I took pictures Thursday night! Anywho- the following Tuesday she dropped off the reimbursement check for the plumber while we were out trying to celebrate my birthday. We were told by our landlord to not clean or move anything until the insurance people came. We waited and waited and waited. Not hearing from her, we called on Tuesday and she rushed AJ off the phone and told him that she was on her way back to Chicago and that she cancelled the insurance claim, and hung up. I called the next day to let her know that things would not be very pretty if she continued to ignore this disgusting problem. She didn’t call back. I called yesterday and she finally answered, totally making up a lie about how she thought the plumber professionally cleaned the basement - which isn’t his job. She totally played dumb telling me “AJ said the plumber cleaned everything up.” Which of course, isn’t true. She told me she would call today (Friday) and let me know who would be coming over to clean it. She never called, and I tried to get ahold of her and of course with no luck.
THANKFULLY a friend of mine is moving out of her house and she told her landlord what horrible problems we have been having and instead of waiting until the 1st of Feb. to let us move in, he is willing to let us move in on the 15th. I mailed my landlord a letter today telling her that this would be our last month here (we don’t have a lease, which is a whole other story.) I don’t understand. This woman is so nice and AJ actually knows her from childhood. This is absolutely disgusting and I can’t believe someone would actually be this dumb. I know that I could get her into a lot of trouble but I don’t even know if I have the energy for it.
I just want to move into the new house and have a fresh start.
No wonder I barely get any knitting done!
